Frequently Asked Questions

When should I consult a knee traumatologist?

If you have noticed pain, swelling, instability or limitation in your movements, it is time to seek help.

When should I consult a knee traumatologist?

If you have noticed pain, swelling, instability or limitation in your movements, it is time to seek help.

What causes knee pain?

Knee pain can be caused by multiple injuries, such as meniscus and ligament injury, cartilage wear or osteoarthritis. An accurate diagnosis is necessary to determine the exact cause.

Should I rest if my knee hurts?

Rest, as well as ice, elevation and compression can help in the early stages, but it is also important to perform specific recommended exercises.

Is surgery always necessary for knee injuries?

Not always. Many injuries can be treated with physical therapy and medications. In these cases, infiltrations often help to slow down the recovery process.

Is there a cure for osteoarthritis of the knee?

Osteoarthritis cannot be cured, but it can be managed with treatment to relieve pain and improve function, such as physiotherapy, infiltrations or surgery if necessary.

What does it mean if I hear a “click” or “crack” in my knee?

Crunching may be normal from cartilage movement, but if accompanied by pain or swelling, it may indicate an injury to the meniscus or cartilage. Consult if symptoms persist.
